UN ÂNE VIVANT JETÉ DANS LE BASSIN RÉSERVÉ AUX TIGRES DANS UN ZOO EN CHINE
Action à mener/Action to be taken (en bas/below)
English version below (merci à Maxine)

A LIVE DONKEY IS THROWN TO THE POOL RESERVED FOR TIGERS IN A CHINESE ZOO
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
June 5th in the wild animal zoo YAN CHENG (淹城 ) in the town of CHANGZHOU (常州) in the JIANGSU (江苏) province:
a truck full of ( live) animals parked in the tiger enclosure. Some men got out, dragging a live donkey, then threw it into the pool reserved for the tigers. The journalists discovered later that other animals, - such as goats - were also in the truck.
Mr Li, a visitor, described the scene to the journalists: He was looking at the tigers when suddenly he heard several shrill cries, accompanied by the roars of the tigers. Intrigued by these noises, he sighted a black animal in the pool, other visitors told him it was a donkey, deliberately thrown into the water.
Mr Li was shocked and felt ill.
The tigers immediately caught the donkey's neck, and dragged it to the edge of the pool. We can imagine what followed.
Video (very graphic....not suitable for those of a sensitive disposition):

The people who threw the donkey tried to throw in live goats, but were fortunately prevented by other visitors and personnel from the security department of the zoo.
According to the people in charge of the zoo, those responsible for this barbaric act are not part of the zoo staff; but they are shareholders. Moreover, a shareholder claimed that « Anyway, these animals are not profitable, at least we can save money by using them as food ».
Reactions in China :
1.Feeding live donkeys to tigers borders on ill treatment to animals. It is inhuman.
2, Be that as it may, this bloody scene can shock people, especially children.
3, Anyway, tigers are ferocious carnivorous animals ; feeding them live animals will make them keep their bestial instincts.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN:
Dear Friends,
This barbaric act, amongst others, makes apparent the absolute need of a law against animal ill treatment in China
We therefore invite you to send the following letter template to The Standing Committee of Chinese Peoples’ National Assembly (Chinese legal system): english@npc.gov.cn tgxx@npc.gov.cn and The Foreign Affairs Ministry: liu_hang@mfa.gov.cn webmaster@mfa.gov.cn
The animals of China thank you.
Letter:
Dear Sir/Madame,
I am profoundly shocked and outraged by the barbarism to animals, shown in this video:
http://wxn.qq.com/cmsid/NEW2017060506495800
A few days ago, in a zoo, a live animal, having feeling and sensitivity, was thrown into a pool to feed the tigers.
How can such barbarism remained unpunished in the 21st Century in a big civilised country like China?
Don’t you think that people will link this barbarism --- admittedly committed by a few people --- to the images of China?
Is there compatibility between the great Chinese civilization and this unbelievable cruelty?
Why isn’t such horror subject to legal punishment?
What will become of the children of your country who are witnesses to such a
scene?
What’s image given by China to the whole world?
For the love and respect of animals, for the love and respect of all children, Chinese or not, for the love and respect of your country, I beg you to reflect on the manner the animals are treated which, in turn, shows the conscience, the level of civilization and the greatness of of a nation.
I am, yours sincerely xxx
